There is an old saying that you can take the boy out of the country but, you can't take the country out of the boy.

In pursuit of a career in aerospace, Ray choose to leave Texas in November of 1962 and found it equally true that you can take the Texan out of Texas but, you just can't take Texas out of him.

Although helping put man on the moon the first time was an exciting experience and he's now climatized to Florida, Ray still misses some things about Texas and tells folks, first it's the Wide Open Spaces, 2nd is the sound of a Squeaking Oil Well Pump Jack and 3rd is the White Face Cows.  Not missed so much is the cotton fields where he was made to pull cotton.
