E Ray, are you doing this on your web for the entire Pirates line?

Reba,

Carlene "Burkman" Black, Class of 72 is providing the Domain Name and paying for the Hosting Service to provide the current Lueders Avoca School a Web Site which is maintained by Sandra Reves. i.e. Sandra the school teacher is also Sandra the Web Master of the official school web site.

The Domain Name and current School Web site is at:... http://www.laisd.com Of course LAISD stands for Lueders Avoca Independent School District.

The Hosting Service for the Alumni Web Site at:.. http://luedersavoca.com did not have Chat Line capability but, the Hosting Service for the LAISD site did so, Carlene set up the Chat Line on the LAISD web site and that is why you address the Chat Line email to:.......... pirates@laisd.com

Now it might interest you to know that the LAISD web site and our Pirate Chat Line is sitting on an internet server in downtown Orlando, Florida and I have been over to Orlando and visited with the firm providing the service because that is also where my personal web site is located as well as 22 other domain names and web sites I have which are all piggy backed off of my personal web site at:.... http://www.smyth1.net

Carlene and I have been able to openly discuss issues and technical stuff and It has been a fun 10 years working with her as she is very capable on technical things and we have had some healthy discussions regarding how best to do things. For example it took her forever to convince me to increase my screen resolution but, finally I did after several months of her beating on me. Ha :-)

AND, our discussions is how the LAISD ended up at the same place where my personal web site was located..

We all owe Carlene a debt of gratitude because she started our alumni site and no one knows the hours it takes to maintain a web site and program web pages unless they have done it themselves.

So there you have it, the Chat Line is being operated on the current school web site which is located on the same server location where my personal web site is but, they are totally separate and have no relation to each other.

Interestingly enough, You happened to ask this on the very day our Alumni Web Site was shut down.

Of course the Chat Line goes on because it is on the LAISD web site

Hope this answered your question and enlightened some others ----- E. Ray Smyth, Class of 53

After reading my own Chat Line message I thought I should explain what I meant by saying 22 other domain names and web site are being piggy backed off of:... http://www.smyth1.net

It simply means for example that the domain name of:.. www.luederstexas.com is pointed i.e. being directed to go to a folder on www.smyth1.net and that folder is simply named LT

Fact is, you can get to the same place by going to:... www.smyth1.net/lt or even www.raysmyth.net/lt

www.raysmyth.net is called a Parked Domain and it is pointed to www.smyth1.net

Most probably could care less about this explanation but, there may be a few interested souls out there with an interest in how some of the things work on the Internet.

Cheers, E. Ray Smyth, Class of 53

A Lueders, Texas Memory Found among my Mother's Things

Until I had my own, I never realized a lot of couples never celebrated their 50th simply because one or the other of the spouses died before that reached that milestone.

Claude and Eunice were always just there a part of our Lueders same as Red and Arlene and the Farmers Bank Building sitting on the corner.
